Going into 2016

It isn't long until 2016 is here so I thought I would share with you how I stay organised and have a positive outlook on life.
For me, positivity comes from having a clear and organised mind, therefore, ensuring I enter 2016 in that exact way.
Pictured below are my favourite items that I use day to day to keep me in an organised state of lifestyle and mind.

So, let's start with a diary, one of the best ways to keep your hectic life style in order. This particular one is by Kate Spade and I love the simplicity of the monochrome stripe.

Herbal tea obviously doesn't help organise your life but for me I know all of its benefits and that makes me feel good about the day ahead, knowing that I have started the day off right.

Bronzer, if you feel good about your self then you will project good vibes by being happy in your skin. Find out what makes you feel more confident and put it into your daily routine. For me, being bronzed makes me feel a lot more confident so wheather it's a spray tan or a little help from a good bronzer I like to make this effort to feel better.

Ensuring you stay on top of your hair is also important, having a brother who is a hair dresser makes things easy for me but hair is something I notice a lot on other people, the colour, the length, the cut and the condition. So I stay on top of mine, keeping up with appointments and using the best products to look after it and to help it grow. When you look in the mirror and feel good about yourself you will be able to take on life's pressures that little bit better.

A women's nails show how well we look after ourselves. Keep them filed and polished, I always think a nude keeps them looking tidy especially if you're not into colours. It's a simple way of looking polished and put together.

Exercise is a crucial part of every day life. Make sure you fit it in to your week. I know it can be hard with our busy life's but it does make you feel better and give you more energy. It doesn't have to mean going to the gym, I dance and swim. It could mean walking the dog, going to fun classes with friends or starting a hobby like badminton which I also occasionally do.

Water, one of the most important things on this picture. I try to drink a lot every day, and when I don't I notice a difference. The benefits are unreal, I feel way more awake, keen to cram more things into my day and my skin feels in so much better condition.

I like to take a multi vitamin a day, I don't tend to notice a difference but just the thought of giving my body the vitamins makes me happy and happy equals a more positive, successful Katy.

Lastly, the happiness planner, a great way of logging down your goals and thoughts of the day that will motivate you to work harder and be a better person. I really recommend this, I got mine from eBay.

And that's it, the end of my stepping into 2016 with positivity and an organised mind. Have a good one.

Halloween party... For two

Last night I decided to make an event out of Halloween for my boyfriend and I. If you don't create fun things, life will pass you by so I decided to do a party for two ha.

First things first. I decorated the house for when Liam came home from work with grave stones, cobwebs, spiders and Halloween treats. He was very surprised when he arrived home ha, we started the evening with me making dinner which was witches fingers, pumpkin cheese burgers and fries.

To create the witches fingers all you need to do is cut the crust off of the bread, apply garlick butter on the bread and roll it. Cut one end of the rolled bread into a point and then apply more garlick butter on to that end and stick an almond onto it to create the nail and then grill... Easy right. Then add them into a bowl of tomatoe ketchup to look like the blood and there you have it.

Following dinner we had witches brew which is limeade and ice cream to create the froth then add a straw and some candy floss, simple but looks so good.

We then carved pumpkins, can you guess which one is mine... Of course the one with the love heart eyes :).
We then sat in the garden and made s'mores. S'mores are an American tradition, something that was done around a camp fire, so we grabbed our mega marshmallows and sat around the fire and toasted them and put them in between two biscuits and a layer of chocolate, sooooooo good.

Cupcakes followed made by my, a simple sponge recipe with cadburys chocolate spread on top. I used some Selfridges skull decorations and some finger biscuits and wrote RIP on them with an icing pen to create a grave stone.
Pin the wart on the witch ended our night before we settled down with a movie and it was a lot of fun. Create your own fun by drawing your own picture and then cut shapes out that apply to the picture and play your own 'pin the' game.
I am no artist as shown but we still had fun :).

I am now planning our next themed night but I think that may be Christmas :) that does give me an excuse to go all out doesn't it :).

Thanks for reading

Halloween plans

Stay tuned for all of my Halloween plans over the next few days.
Thought I would write a mini post to give you an idea of what my Halloween will entail.
I am not one for dressing up and going out on Halloween I much prefer to create fun at home :). This year it will just be me and Liam watching a movie, carving pumpkins, games and me making a Halloween themed dinner. I am going to be baking Halloween cupcakes and making Witches brew.
I have purchased a few cute bits and bobs from selfridges to add more fun. Stay tuned :)

Something to celebrate

I haven't written a blog post in a while because I have been super busy organising a show for my dance company. Now the show is over and was a huge success it was time to say thank you to the people that helped me achieve what I did. This post is all about how I thanked my boyfriend Liam as he takes care of all the music for me, mixing, editing and playing on the night of the show.

I decided to book a hotel in the mailbox in Birmingham. This time we stayed at Hotel Indigo. We loved this hotel and everything it had to offer from the amazing room with amazing floor to ceiling windows that showcased the whole city and at night it was pretty amazing from laying in bed.

The Mailbox has been refurbished and it's absolutely stunning. Once checked into the hotel and settled we headed to the gas social restaurant within the mailbox. It's a new addition and we really enjoyed the relaxed vibe, the cocktails and the food. I had sticky chicken with sweet potatoe fries and Liam had a burger.

We then went on for more cocktails in the new cocktail bar Aluna where Liam chose the Piña punch for two with coconut ice cream in it. It was lovely and we really loved this particular bar.

We finished up in Marco Pierre Whites restaurant over looking the city once more, enjoying live music and lovely drinks.

The next day we headed to the Bullring... Of course where we done a little shopping. Below are all of the pictures from the weekend. A post will follow with all of the items I purchased.

Essentials that fill my bag on days out

When I go out for the day it's obvious I use a bigger bag because I never know what I will need, how long I'm going to be out, what the weather will do to my makeup etc. here are some of my essentials that I cram into my bag.

Luckily for my arms and back I am not one of those girls who fill their bag with lots of makeup. Once I have applied it in the morning I don't like to keep caking it on. I prefer to buy products that will last and prep my skin to assure the makeup stays. Mascara is definitely a no no for me, I couldn't bare the thought of liking that on through out the day. Here are the bare essentials.

Sunglasses for obvious reasons and these are from Whistles. I take the nail polish I have on and a file incase I need to do any retouches that will get me through until my next nail apt or until I completely remove the polish and re apply properly.
A perfume and the one I have today is the Karl Lagerfeld one which I used this morning.
Hand sanitiser because I am a bit OTT about germs and hate touching taps, toilet flushers and toilet door handles .
The amazing Lush lip scrub, if you haven't tried one then please do... Amazing.
The body shop vitimin spray which gives you a bit of moister if your skin dries out and your makeup is looking a little sorry for itself and that is also why I take the Mac hydration water out with me so a sray can just give my skin a little moisture and revamp the foundation.
Bobbi Brown finishing powder is just... I can't even explain. Makes the skin look incredible and when you have been out all day and your skin is looking a little dull this will help I assure you.
Lastly the Victoria secrets body mist, for obvious I reasons. A little squirt of this will freshen you up, it has such a feminine and fresh smell, I love it.

Hail the nails

This post is all about nail polish. I love changing up my nails on a weekly bases and I have my nails done every two weeks in a salon, however I get bored so easily that I find myself re painting them a couple of days later.

Here are some of my favourite colours and brands-
Barry M I would say is my favourite nail polish brand from drug stores. They have such a wide variety of colours and also finishes that it is my go to brand. They are priced so well that they make it impossible not to choose them over other brands. This colour is called vintage goilet and its my favourite Barry M shade.

Primark nail polish are literally 80p to £1 an absolute bargain and in my opinion last very well considering the price. This doesn't have a name but such a perfect popping pink for this time of year.

NYC States it lasts up to 10 days and I can't disagree. However I don't usually struggle with chipping nails. I love this soft green colour in mint macaroon.

Chanel, the most expensive polish out of my collection and I do understand why. Usually the brand of a polish bumps the price up and there can be not much difference in formulae, however a Chanel polish glides on to the nail so effortlessly and the end result is smooth, clean and glossy. I love this Taboo shade.

Rimmel is appealing for its collab's with celebrities. Kate Moss, Rita Ora etc. I love this sort summery colour in Reggae splash, a lovely colour to go with tanned skin.

I have recently just purchased the Ciatex Olivia Palermo nude polish and yet to try it. I go away next week so think that will be my colour of choice to go with all outfits.

July Favourites

July has been a month jam packed full of favourites, mainly because it was my birthday and I got so many lovely things that obviously had to make my favourites.
Some items I purchased though, because of the reviews I had read about them and I wasn't disappointed. So let's start with the Rimmel scandal eyes eyeshadow sticks-
I have been getting a lot of complements on my makeup recently and funnily enough I have changed up my high end items for drug store items and I haven't looked back. Here I have the White one to highlight my brow bones and a bronze to blend all over the lids as a base before blending a darker colour in the crease.

Soap and glory makeup is new for me, I have only just started noticing it and enjoying the whole brand for that matter. I LOVE their items and love this kick ass retouch powder to give my makeup a little touch up through out the day.

I love, love, love makeup brushes but not the price tag. My brother got me the Body Shop brushes for Christmas and I loved them so much but just needed more as I use a lot of eye shadows in one go especially for a smokey eye so I browsed ebay and found these insanely eye catching ones for £8. I'm not saying they are as good quality as my Body Shop brushes but they definitely do the job and can't complain at the price.

I had seen the happiness planner a lot on people's instagrams so decided to search for one my self finding only one on ebay. I think this is an amazing way to put things into priority and evaluate just how lucky you are and how amazing your life actually is. We can all get snowed under with work and responsibilities but this just gives you a moment to reflect and release all of the amazing things that you have in your life.

I have the Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille bath set so when I realised the scent was in a perfume form I had to get it. It's lovely and definitely lingers on the skin.

While spending less on makeup I have not been able to do so with lipstick. There's something so feminine about pulling a beautiful lipstick out of your hand bag and applying it so I always like to splurge on this. Here I purchased the Mac honey love lipstick and spice lip liner.

I tend to try different skin care as I don't like to miss out :) but this item I will be sticking with. It has completely transformed my skin which felt dry from the winter and made it feel so soft and silky. Along with drinking two litres of water a day my skin hasn't felt better.

My friends got me this for my birthday. I am a big Whistles fan so they were very quite thoughtful. I love it, such a lovely and delicate size. The colour and texture is gorgeous.

My AMAZING boyfriend got me these Prada espadrilles for my birthday and boy am I in love. The leather is gorgeous, so soft on my feet, a perfect fit and I just love styling them, thanks so much Liam.

My brother and his girlfriend got me this Ma-Ga bracelet for my birthday as they know I love skulls and the brand. My brother is ambassador for this brand and by using his code pwhair20 you can receive 20% off of your order www.ma-ga.com

After falling in love with the bracelet I treated my self for my birthday by buying the watch from Ma-Ga. It's so beautiful with the skull and the silver with the black leather strap. The perfect watch for me. Go check them out.

And finally another Whistles handbag from my brother and his girlfriend for my birthday. Amazing colour so eye catching, love to wear this with an all black outfit and have it as the main piece.  It's a lovely size and so glad it has a strap so it can be used as a clutch and a shoulder bag.

Thanks for reading, let me know if you have any of these items or if your going to try them.

PAUL WATTS HAIR

Good morning, so this blog is all about hair and I am lucky enough to have a brother who is a hairdresser and a VERY talented one at that. Obviously people who read this may not live close to his salons but his Instagram is definitely worth a follow due to his tips and forward thinking check it out at @paulwattshair. Not only is he passionate about creating but he also passionate about the science and is packed full of knowledge on how to look after your hair and keep it in its best condition possible. He has recently introduced a brand into the salon called Olaplex. Kim K has recently been raving about it and how much it has improved her hair. It is described as insurance for your hair and really is such an amazing product.

Paul likes to ensure that your hair is looked after not only in the salon under his care but once you leave. He stocks products that he believes in such as RedKen. He is working closely with RedKen and Lee Stafford to broaden his knowledge and to express his ideas that are always very contemporary and that is why this formula is working so well.
Watch this space as I can only image whats to come.

Here is the journey of my hair from a bleach ashy blonde to a gorgeous soft ombré.
